Basic Education
Education in Turkey is nationally regulated and is intended to produce a professional group of people in the nation. 8 years of elementary education is compulsory for children under the age of 7 and enrollment stands at almost 100%.
Middle Education
Second Education
From 14 years onwards young people need to go to high school for an additional 4 years. There are three types of high schools in Turkey. These are general (educational) schools, science schools, and vocational schools. The first two are culminating in the National University Entrance Examination, and the second is producing well-qualified staff.
Vocational Education
Illegal education in Turkey is available in a network of training institutions under the full control of the education department setting standards. These have a few roles that include adult literacy and numeracy, completing reduced schooling and helping staff learn new skills.
Higher education
Initial fees may be very low, while those of private institutions stay away from poor people without bursaries.
The oldest university operated by Istanbul Technical University was founded in 1773 as the School of Marine Engineers. To this day its focus is on technology - skills in construction, a wide range of engineering, mining, shipbuilding. aeronautics and astronautics.
